What’s Happening at the Stroke Life Center This Month
Recovery Continues Beyond Rehab
When someone experiences a stroke, the journey doesn’t end when therapy ends.
In many ways, that’s when a new chapter begins—one that often includes questions, challenges, and the need for ongoing support.
That’s where the Stroke Life Center comes in.
Each week, we provide a place where stroke survivors and caregivers can connect, rebuild confidence, and continue moving forward—together.
This month, we’re sharing a few meaningful updates and opportunities to gather as a community.
A Special Welcome: Jennifer Lamping
We are excited to welcome Jennifer Lamping as our new Assistant Director of Programs and Operations.
Jennifer’s connection to the Stroke Life Center began several years ago—not as a staff member, but as someone navigating a life-changing health journey.
A Journey of Resilience
In 2014, Jennifer was diagnosed with a large AVM in her brain. What followed was a complex medical journey that resulted in a stroke over a two-year period.
She faced hospitalizations, rehabilitation, and the difficult process of relearning how to move, speak, and navigate daily life.
Finding Community
As part of her recovery, Jennifer was encouraged to find a support group—and that search led her to the Stroke Life Center.
She joined in 2019 and quickly found something many survivors are looking for:
Connection.
“From the first day I walked through the door, I felt welcomed and accepted… I soon felt like I had found my people.”
Over time, the Center became a place of encouragement, growth, and belonging.
A Full-Circle Moment
Today, Jennifer steps into a leadership role within the same community that supported her.
Her experience reflects what makes the Stroke Life Center so meaningful—support led by people who have lived it.
“I feel honored to be able to help everyone feel welcome, accepted, and serve my ‘peeps.’”
Looking Ahead
Jennifer is excited to listen, learn, and continue strengthening the programs and community that meant so much to her.
Her goal is simple: to help others feel the same sense of support, connection, and encouragement she found here.
Bloom & Brew – May 7
Join us on May 7 for Bloom & Brew, a community breakfast focused on connection, education, and stroke awareness.
This gathering is designed to be welcoming and intentional—a chance to come together, share a meal, and learn more about life after stroke and the role community plays in recovery.
Guests will hear from a medical professional, connect with others who care about this mission, and gain a deeper understanding of the ongoing journey stroke survivors and caregivers face.
A Continuing Education Unit (CEU) will be available for healthcare professionals, generously sponsored by CarePatrol.
Seats are limited.
Every ticket helps support programs offered at no cost to stroke survivors and caregivers.
Euchre Tournament – April 23
Join us for an evening of fun, connection, and a little friendly competition.
Whether you’re an experienced player or just coming for the camaraderie, this is a great way to support the Stroke Life Center while enjoying time with others.
We are grateful to our event sponsors:
- Cash Prize Sponsor
- Light Meal Sponsor
Stroke Survivor Support Group
Our Stroke Survivor Support Group continues to be a cornerstone of what we do.
Each week, survivors come together to share experiences, encourage one another, and continue rebuilding confidence in a supportive environment.
It’s a space where people feel understood—often in ways they haven’t experienced elsewhere.
Meets weekly on Wednesday from 1PM to 2:30PM.
New participants are always welcome. Learn more, come join us!
Because of this community,
no one has to navigate stroke recovery alone.
You Might Know Someone Who Needs This
Please keep the Stroke Life Center in mind if you know someone who is:
• Recently discharged from rehab
• Adjusting to life after stroke
• A caregiver who may be feeling overwhelmed
• Doing “okay,” but still searching for connection
Sometimes, a simple introduction can make all the difference.
Looking Ahead

We are grateful for your support.
