What began as a meeting between two stroke survivors has grown into a community resource that has serve more than 100 survivors and caregivers across seven counties. As one of only four post‑rehabilitation life‑skill centers in the United States, the Stroke Life Center bridges the gap between hospital rehabilitation and everyday life. Its mission is to empower survivors to regain independence, support caregivers and build an informed, compassionate community, and this mission is funded entirely through donations, sponsorships and fundraisers.

Impact on Survivors

Stroke survivors often face ongoing physical, cognitive and emotional challenges long after formal therapy ends. The Center offers free programs—such as speech, physical, occupational, aquatic and art therapy, as well as support groups and social outings—to help people thrive physically, emotionally and socially. These services allow survivors to continue building strength and skills, regain confidence and reclaim independence. By celebrating progress and connecting peers who understand their journey the Center makes recovery feel less isolating and more hopeful.

Impact on Caregivers

Caregivers play a critical role in recovery, yet they often face burnout and isolation. The Stroke Life Center provides them with support groups, educational sessions and community activities. These programs offer respite, practical resources and a network of people who share similar challenges. Importantly, all caregiver support is free of charge, ensuring that families can access help without financial strain.
