Meet Our Founders
The Stroke Life Center was founded by two stroke survivors, Cindy Roshon and Sue Rindskopf, who believed life after a stroke should be about more than just recovery—it should be about living fully. Their vision created a welcoming community where survivors and caregivers thrive together.
Our Impact
The Stroke Life Center has a profound impact on its members and the broader community by providing a vital bridge between rehabilitation and everyday living. For stroke survivors, the Center offers a safe, supportive environment where they can continue to grow, regain confidence, and reclaim independence through tailored programs focused on physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being. Caregivers benefit from a strong network of shared experience and support, helping to reduce isolation and burnout. As one of only four centers in the United States offering this unique model of post-rehabilitation support, the Stroke Life Center proudly serves both the local and regional community—filling a critical gap in stroke recovery services. Beyond the walls of the Center, its presence raises awareness of stroke recovery needs, encourages community inclusion, and promotes a more compassionate understanding of life after stroke. Together, these efforts foster resilience, dignity, and hope—transforming lives and strengthening the community as a whole.

Our Programs
At the Stroke Life Center, we offer a wide range of supportive and rehabilitative programs that empower stroke survivors and their caregivers on the journey of recovery. With compassion and expertise, our programs focus on improving quality of life, independence, and meaningful community connections.
Please note: Participants must be able to meet their own personal needs (such as eating and restroom use) and engage in socially appropriate interaction with fellow survivors, caregivers, families, and staff.
weekly support group
Our weekly support group provides a safe, welcoming space for stroke survivors and caregivers to share experiences, gain encouragement, and build friendships. Led by our Co-Founder and Executive Director—a stroke survivor herself—the group fosters peer support, practical advice, and emotional healing. Caregiver Breakout Sessions are offered twice a month to address caregivers’ unique needs.
physical and occupational therapy
We provide free physical and occupational therapy sessions supervised by licensed professionals and assisted by students training in their fields. These sessions help survivors rebuild strength, improve mobility, and regain skills for daily living. Please bring a caregiver if assistance with equipment is needed.
aquatic therapy
In partnership with NOMS Healthcare, our aquatic therapy program uses guided water aerobics to build strength, improve flexibility, and support gentle movement. Open to both survivors and caregivers, this low-impact therapy promotes physical recovery and emotional well-being.
additional programs
Explore more ways to thrive with our Speech Therapy, Art Therapy, and Friendship Bench programs—each designed to support communication, creativity, and mental acuity in life after stroke.
